Partial lyrics of the ad above, which are played almost in
all private TV stations in Indonesia, successfully impressed me, testing me for
daring to dream and take a part in Beswan Djarum’s activities.
Starting from cultural heritage charm presented
in Nation Building program
Leadership
Development
that forms Beswan awardees to become visionary and communicative leaders
Becoming the winner of Debate, writing, and
blog through Competition Challenges.
Directly involved in the society through the Community Empowerment
Becoming the representatives of Indonesia and
the best through International Exposure
The program that first made me captivated is
outbound activity. This Character
Building program holds an important role because that is where things begin. Planting the seeds of
leadership, problem solving, creativity, and processing strategy are complete
package of outbound. In addition, I learn in a state of relaxed and joyful
during the activity. Because, by rejoicing in the process, I am triggered to be
more receptive about new things. This is very effective learning patterns. I
can directly apply the results of the thought, and get rewarded for all my
decisions.
Those series of activities are
just like an ocean of knowledge. It tempts me to go exploring the charm of the community
that contains insightful and ethical human beings. I courageously try to achieve a learning opportunity that
I will never get in the classroom. Therefore, the desire to dig up the
knowledge and experience it has woken me from my reverie and asked me to fight
for the dream through a real action. Since I saw the ad in the fluffy white-blue
uniform, I have been eager to become a part of Beswan Djarum. Then, after 5 years passed, 2014/2015 will be the year of
my period as Beswan. And yes,.. I’m in. Alhamdulillah..
Wise man said:
“You can do
whatever you want. But not in the same time.”
This is a challenge that will accompany me when becoming
a Beswan. Remember the questions directed by the examiners during my interview,
saying:
What if you
are selected to be a Beswan then you must attend activities of Djarum; while
you are busy with
final exams. Which
one would you choose
as precedence? Participating in these activities or focusing
on your exams?
Trying to balance the agenda either in studying or
Beswan, in simple words, I propose a “win – win solution”. That is the best I
can offer to the interviewer.
That question sent me back
to a valuable experience in the last semester, in which a varsity choir
competition across Java and Bali was my focus as a member of the student choir.
God gave groove variations on this scenario. The requirement to do an internship
program in a senior high school, as a part of a course I took, coincided with
the choir competition. At that time, I consulted with the student affair staff.
The solution offered was by issuing a letter of statement explaining that I have to
go with the choir group to represent the University, as well as requesting an approval
from the school principal to have a 3 day-leave during the internship program.
After directly communicating with the principal, while carrying a letter of statement from the University, I got
the permission. Then, the competition could be lived to the maximum, Preparation Perfect Performance
(preparation will result in a perfect performance), Alhamdulillah .. 1st
medal could be presented to my beloved University.
Of
course, the experience can be a reflection for me. If applied to the case of a
final examination in conjunction to Beswan activities, first I will consult with
my supervisor; ask permission to the head of department, and meet the lecturer in
order that I am permitted to have an examination outside the scheduled time, certainly
by carrying a letter of statement from the department stating that I am allowed
to take supplementary examinations. For me personally, it would not be
justified if I had to hurry to decide something and to sacrifice another thing
without a significant struggle. In other words, Beswan activity offers an opportunity
that is hard to ignore; while the learning process on the University also remains
to be carried out in a responsible manner. I will continue to fight for the
survival in both of which, Djarum session participation and responsibility in
learning.
Throughout one year ahead, there will be engraved
a privilege story
in my life.
Being part of Beswan
Djarum is a
wonderful blessing for me and
family, in addition to accumulating knowledge and
experience, and even then the scholarship will help
my parents to finance my college.
Alhamdulillah.. Humbly speaking, I cannot
promise anything, about what I can contribute while
becoming a Beswan. However, one thing
I believe in, I would
use this precious opportunity to learn
and grow up with
the quality, excelled in achievement, noble in
manners.

changes;
you have to make a choice, to take a chance, or your life will never change”
you have to make a choice, to take a chance, or your life will never change”
